After receiving his Master ́s degree in political science, Oliver G. Becker worked for the Probono Television Production Company in Cologne for three years. He was then awarded an Arthur F. Burns fellowship, an exchange programme for outstanding journalist ́s and media professionals hosted by US television network NJN in Trenton, New Jersey.

Since 2001 Oliver G. Becker has been working as a freelance producer and director. In the same year, he completed a 30 min documentary on the humanitarian work of the KFOR and accompanied a truck convoy in Kosovo with supplies from Germany. In addition to further productions, focussing on current affairs, cultural matters and investigative stories, he has developed, produced and directed an in-depth documentary dealing with anomalous forms of occult belief systems: "Muti Murder – The Dark Side of Occult Beliefs in Africa" was shown in Germany and France on ARTE and in Ireland as well as in the US on Sundance Channel (2004).

An essay of the same title appeared in late 2007 in the scientific journal “Witches, Witch Hunts and the Magic Realm of Imagination in Modern Africa”, DOBU publishers, Hamburg.

After the production of "KICK THE LION" (covering secret ceremonies in Uganda, Tanzania, Ghana, Swaziland and Rep. of South Africa, 2006) he has finalised a piece on the unique singer-songwriter "Ilham al Madfai - the Voice of Iraq" (German-French Collaboration Channel ARTE) as much as a 36 min. Documentary for SPIEGEL TV Dokumentation on one of Germany ́s most intensive murder inquyries entitled "Der Fall Tristan" (both 2007).In 2008 a documentary on the so called "Rhineland Bastards" was completed for Germ. / French collarboration Channel ARTE as much as two documentaries on biodiversity conservation and science in Burkina Faso, Westafrica on behalf of the German Federal Ministery of Education and Research.


In April 2009 one of his documentaries has been selected for the finals of 5th International Al Jazeera Doc. Film Festival in Doha / Qatar. The Film was also awarded 3rd prize (full length film category) of AFRICAN WORLD DOCUMENTARY FILM FESTIVAL (USA).


At the present time Oliver Becker is busy with the developemt of two filmprojects on science, current affairs and history.
